By aligning funding, policy innovation, and high-potential teams with bold ideas, we empower innovators to overcome barriers, connect with investors, and create a planet-first economy.
Today, many professionals on both sides of the funding table agree that traditional investment opportunities often fail to align with the needs of climate and nature tech solutions. As a result, many high-potential teams exit the sector, leading to a shortage of disruptive startups and innovations in this space. Climate and nature startups face unique challenges, such as navigating policy adjustments and securing sites for pilot project development, which are critical for unlocking growth opportunities.
Through the Sustainable Innovation Challenge, we aim to address these barriers, creating pathways for sustainable innovators to secure funding, scale effectively, and drive transformative change that meets the magnitude of the 21st-century climate and nature challenges.
The Sustainable Innovation Council (SICouncil) accelerates climate and nature tech solutions through advancing funding, policy innovation, and growth. SICouncil connects startups, corporations, investors, and policymakers to drive sustainable progress and empower innovators worldwide.
Funding for climate tech startups has declined sharply, falling 29% in the past year, and less than 9% of global venture capital supports these solutions.
Many high-emission sectors—such as industrials, agriculture, and the built environment—remain underfunded despite their significant climate impact.
Meanwhile, early-stage startups struggle to secure the resources needed to scale, and adaptation and resilience innovations, essential for addressing climate risks, receive insufficient attention globally.
